Is There Hope for Venezuela

Recent events in Venezuela have shown that there may be a few cracks in Hugo Chavez's quest for power. On November 19th, Reuters reported that some of Chavez's own supporters were starting to have doubts for his grab for power. In a recent poll also reported by Reuters, Chavez's referendum that includes eliminating term limits for Venezuela's Presidents is losing. Of course that doesn't mean that he will lose, or that Chavez will not find a way to tweak the polls to his liking. After all, "Those who cast the vote decide nothing, Those who count the votes decide everything." - a quote credited to Joseph Stalin.

Hopefully Chavez's referendum will lose and he will be forced to pass the leadership baton on to someone else. That would help to preserve Venezuelan democracy and after all Chavez claims that he is all for democracy.
